Nevada Beach, Courtesy Of the US Postal Service

06 September 2002

My fingernails are longer than I think they've ever been in my life. No, really, don't congratulate me; I can't stand it. I forgot to bring nail clippers, of all things, to school, and so did everyone else I know. I used to bite them but I've now not only broken myself of that habit but I even find it rather repulsive. I've been tempted to try using my scissors to cut them off, but that could have disasterous results.

My printer is functioning properly again. It wasn't working earlier this week because if had been any more humid it would've been raining. High humidity makes for a temperamental printer.

Course, because my printer was fine today my computer had to be temperamental. But it seems to be over that now.

I actually had a class today. I've been spoiled; for the past two semesters I haven't had any Friday classes. But it's not bad; only 50 minutes long and it's pretty interesting so far, especially for being US Military History. Which is good, since the only reason I took it was because my roommate begged me to. It's not a required class, which means if they don't get at least ten people signed up they cancel it. She really wanted to take it so she told everyone she knew to take it as well.

Haven't had Audio yet. How fair is that? My concentration and I have to wait over a week before I even get to go. Sheesh. Save the best for last, I suppose. Someone in my marketing class was flipping through the book for it before class started and said he was kinda daunted by it. I've read the first couple chapters and I think it's more interesting and easier to understand than the last one. Almost makes it worth the ten ounce lump of gold they charged for it.

I actually got something in the mail today! I walked in and they were like, "Yo, Kyuui! We got something for you finally!" So they handed me the package and I rapidly searched the outside of it to see what it was. Course, had I actually stopped to think about it I would've known. It was a pretty small package so it could only be one thing (or, if you wanna be technical about it, three). But I didn't think of that and instead discovered what was inside by the return address label (which, consequently, I probably would've found sooner had I not been so excited) that read "Metal Blade Records." With a demonic laugh that probably scared the workers, I half-ran out of the office yelling "It's my Nevada Beach!"

For those of you who didn't watch MTV much in the early '90's, Nevada Beach was a band in the early '90's (how's that for redundancy?). They were a heavy-metalish, AC/DC type band but with a singer whose voice you can stand to listen to. I had been looking for the EP and album they put out everywhere and had almost despaired of finding either anywhere except maybe in a used CD store in LA. But I finally found a place online that sold them. On cassette only, but also pretty cheap: $3.99 for the album and 99 cents for the EP. Which actually caused a problem because my subtotal only came up to $4.98 and the minimum purchase was $5.00. So I bought two copies of the EP (hence the three things as mentioned above). I figure I'll probably give my extra copy to the radio station if they promise to play it.

Some time after that I went into the bathroom and there was a poster ("poster" here being your typical 8.5 by 11 inch purple office paper) on the wall that made me stop and say (pretty loudly), "Dude, no way!" Probably a good thing there was no one else in there. Anyway, the "poster" was an ad for a show tomorrow night by Mars Hill, one of the bands that did some work in the studio while I was there over the summer. My next reaction was that it probably wasn't the same band, since while they were there they said there are a ton of bands called 'Mars Hill', but there was a picture of the band on the "poster" and it's definitely them. So I figure I'll go check that out tomorrow night. You've gotta wonder, what are the odds? Small world...

There's a dance tonight. I won't be going. Just in case you wanted to know.

A whole bunch of people just walked by and because one of them was my former roommate you know they were going to drink. Well, anyway, I know that's what they're doing and I just told you. That's one of the three reasons I'm not going to the dance; everyone's going to be drunk. The other two reasons are that I don't like the music they play and I don't like dancing. Tapping the rhythm out on my leg/arm/desk/chair/whatever hard surface happens to be around is about the extent of my dancing ability.

And since I've suddenly hit a blank as far as what to write, I will leave you with that. Talk to you later!
