Well, I'm back at school; been back for a little under a week now. I know, it's about time I started this up now that I've been here for five days, but let's face it; with the frequency I was updating last semester, you're lucky I've started it up again at all. *grin* Actually, part of the reason I haven't updated yet is because I didn't want to add any entries before coming up with a new layout (preferably more viewer-friendly than the last one), and it took me a while to decide exactly what I wanted. (BTW, I deleted all my last-year entries from the server but fear not; I still have them on my hard drive should you desperately want to see any of them again. Please give 24 hours prior notice. A $1.00 fee will be charged for the trouble it takes to double click on the file.) I (obviously) ended up deciding on my latest obsession; The Lord Of The Rings movie. If you haven't heard of it you must be dead and if you haven't seen it yet you haven't lived. But I should get on to school-related stuff, since that is the whole idea of this. I'm living on a sorority floor this year, which probably sounds worse than it really is. No, I'm not in the sorority nor do I plan to be. 45 bucks a semester? I could buy four CDs for that, and the chance of any sorority being worth more to me than four CDs is very very slim. Most of the girls on the floor are freshmen, and there are only something like four sorority sisters on the floor; the rest are scattered throughout the dorms or off campus. (The only reason it's a sorority floor is because this is the floor the sisters-only lounge is on.) I tried something new this year; ordering my books online. *ahem* That didn't work out quite like I'd planned. In a couple cases I ended up buying the wrong edition of the book and in others I got the wrong book entirely (e.g. I ordered the books for one marketing class but it turned out I was taking another one). But that's not as bad as it seems, either. Because most of the books I ordered I can return to the bookstore for more than I paid for them (maybe I should start a business...) and the rest I can sell back where I bought them for at least what I paid. Next time I'll try to plan that out a little better... Just so everyone's up to speed on what courses I have, I'm taking Marketing (as mentioned), Ethics (I'm sure my ethics teacher would have something to say about my plan for selling back books, but a buck's a buck and with the prices they charge, I feel no remorse), US Military History (a friend begged me to take that one), Probability and Statistics (which seems like it's going to be as easy as last year's algebra class), and of course, Audio. Actually, Prob&Stats won't be quite as easy as algebra. Today, instead of doing the homework during the entire lecture, I took notes during the lecture and when everyone else was doing practice problems I did the homework. I have the same teacher, which makes it easier to pick up on the stuff faster. I've been in and out of the bookstore so many times over the past few days all the employees run and hide when I come in. Heh. When my Marketing books (the wrong ones) didn't come in on time, I bought them at the bookstore just prior to class with the intent of returning them as soon as my online ones came in the mail. Get to class, find out they're the wrong books. So immediately after class I'm back in the bookstore to get my money back for those books and get the correct book, which I'll hafta keep since I ordered the wrong ones online. But again, I'll be able to sell the wrong ones back for more than I paid for them. I will make money on this deal yet... I have a similar effect in the post office, which I've been in multiple times a day to check for my books and a couple other things I'm expecting. Course I haven't gotten anything yet, and I suspect that pretty soon they'll just start saying to me "Nothing today, either" the minute I walk in the room. I have a much better roommate this year; one that I actually get along with. Doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, doesn't buy illegal drugs over my phone... You think I'm kidding. They installed new toilet paper dispensers in the bathrooms. These new ones are much better than last year's. This is stuff you need to know. Yes it is, don't argue with me. One thing not better than last year is the parking. There isn't any. To get the space I have now I had to sell my soul to the dude who had the spot before me. I'm afraid to leave the campus because I don't have another soul to sell and it may be next semester before I find another parking space. Maybe I could strike a deal with one of my SoBe Lizard Lavas. That's almost as good as a soul, and definitely as good as a parking space. I could park at home and walk to school, but I'd've graduated by the time I got here. That should satisfy you for now, and I'll do my best to keep you up to date as often as possible. ![]() |
